Photographing Tension Envelope was visceral for me. I could feel the ghosts, not literally, but ghosts of pride, care, the time spent make a living, since 1889. The founders of Tension created something used by us all to communicate - envelopes. Envelopes to carry messages. Envelopes that are being replaced by waves in the air. My interest in this project was inspired by Tension Envelope’s resilience in spite of the changes in the way we communicate. Tension Envelope has withstood the transition from Industrial Age to Digital Age with what appears to be great consideration for people and place.
